Shalane Flanagan on the 2014 Boston Marathon

“In my career, I’ve never felt my running take on a more personal meaning than it will to prepare for this year’s race,” said Flanagan. “The 2014 Boston Marathon will be run with overwhelming honor, passion and joy. Each step we take closer to the finish line is a victory in and of itself. It’s hard to express what it means to return this particular year to the place where I grew up and compete. In one word, I guess it would be ‘pride’. I and many in the field will be fueled by those who were affected by the tragedy and will be running for those who can not.”

What's up with the pre-race pasta dinner....PARTY?

A lot of people want to know what's up with the pre-race pasta dinner. This is important because it will likely be the first opportunity for the most fun runners from southeastern Michigan to congregate, eat, and discuss race strategy for hours on end.

Thanks to Dave "The Comet" Chomet for taking his curiosity to the email (part of the Interweb), now we know:

Subject: Pre-race pasta dinner for Boston
Hello,

I was looking for details of time and place for the pre-race pasta dinner on Sunday, April 20th on the website, but for the life of me can't find it.  Can you help?  Is it at the John Hynes Convention Center?

Thanks,
Dave Chomet

The official BAA response:

Dear Dave,

Thank you for your email. Details about the pasta party have not yet been determined. Please monitor our website over the next few months to see new information about race weekend as plans are finalized.

Sincerely,

Poll Results

The results to the question:

Should Dave move up to a push button landline phone before 2020?

Most peoople responded, "Oberon."  While that response makes little sense at first glance, the savvy blog reader understands it perfectly.
